The first Sunday Supper showed us some things that worked and others that needed tweaking. 

Check-in and welcome went okay, but the fact that our doorbell was broken hampered first impressions. Good news, the doorbell has been repaired.  We enjoyed the food and use of the kitchen and eating areas. We needed more seats and tables, particularly for the kids. Conversations were easy and we genuinely experienced people getting to know one another. Next time we are going to offer a couple of prompts for conversation that will help break the ice.

It was great to have some many kids and this coming Sunday we will separate them into two groups. Toddlers and preschoolers will be in the playroom while the Kindergartners and elementary kids will be in the dining room for their curriculum.

While the music was done very well, it didn't seem to fit what the group needed. This week we will try skipping the music and spend more time getting to know one another, exploring scripture and praying together. One of the things that growing churches have in common is that they pray expectantly and specifically for the community, the church and one another. 

We are looking forward to these tweaks and will evaluate the event for what worked, what was missing or confusing, and what went wrong. This will be a constant process of plan, review, make adjustments and execute.

Finally, Pastor John and Latrice are going to do more prep the day before to allow them to be less busy and more availalbe to people. We could use a person or two who could take responsibility for the kitchen serving line and drink station. Email Pastor John now to offer to help.
